Mostly McCoy and Mseleku

These four musicians comprise 4/6 of a new sextet called Hexagonal which came together in 2016 to play the music of the late great South African composer and multi-instrumentalist Bheki Mseleku with whom bassist Simon Thorpe and pianist John Donaldson toured a decade ago. After Bheki's passing they, along with drummer Tristan Banks and saxophonist Ian Price recorded an album of Bheki's compositions. More recently this trio have been working with saxophonists Jason Yarde, Greg Heath and trumpeter James McMillan collectively known as HEXAGONAL. In addition to Bheki's compositions the group have added to the group's repertoire with compositions by McCoy Tyner as well as original compositions by members of the band while staying close to the spirit of Bheki's music.
