The Billy Marrows Band’s vibrantly melodic and expressive sound explores the meeting point between composition and improvisation, creating a fertile playground for four highly inventive musicians. The band takes inspiration from a wide range of music, including contemporary jazz, funk, and progressive jazz.
The group features Billy Marrows on electric guitar and compositions, Chris Williams on alto sax (Led Bib, Sarathy Korwar), Huw V. Williams on double bass (Gruff Rhys, Mark Lockheart), and Jay Davis on drums (Eddie Parker, Elliot Galvin). Dancing on Bentwood Chairs was released to critical acclaim in February 2026, and this show forms part of their album launch tour.
Alongside this quartet, Billy leads the critically acclaimed chamber-jazz project Grande Família (also featuring Chris Williams), who have sold out the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, completed a two-night residency at Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, and appeared at Scarborough Jazz Festival 2025. Their 2024 debut Penelope received ★★★★ and Editor’s Choice in Jazzwise, and was shortlisted for Album of the Year in the 2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
