Loose Ends are a pioneering British R&B band formed in London in 1980. Originally featuring Carl McIntosh, Jane Eugene and Steve Nichol, the group signed to Virgin Records and became global trailblazers with their 1985 hit “Hangin’ on a String (Contemplating)” — the first UK black British band to top the US Billboard R&B chart. Throughout the 1980s, Loose Ends scored major UK and US hits including “Magic Touch,” “Slow Down,” and “Watching You (Watching Me).”
Following line-up changes in 1990, founding member Carl McIntosh continued the Loose Ends legacy, expanding their sound and international fanbase. Today, Loose Ends continues to perform under McIntosh’s leadership, celebrating a catalogue that helped define British R&B.
