New Generation Jazz are proud to announce that the Jazz Futures programme will be taking part in the Love Supreme Jazz Festival under the leadership of musical director Matt Ellis.
Jazz Futures is an Arts Council England–supported programme created by New Generation Jazz to encourage the wealth of young musical talent across the South East. Throughout term times, New Generation Jazz offers free weekly workshops and band classes at Brighton Youth Centre, The Ropetackle Centre (Shoreham), and Badger at Source Skatepark in Hastings. These sessions feature a range of guest tutors, including some of the UK’s most exciting rising stars, who share their expertise and contribute specially commissioned works for the student ensembles to perform.
Jazz Futures (Brighton) and Jazz Futures West (Shoreham) are dynamic entry-level ensembles for young musicians aged 8–18, featuring some of the most exciting emerging talent from across the South Coast. Both groups provide inspiring platforms to explore jazz ensemble playing, develop improvisation skills, deepen understanding of harmony, and refine group performance.
With a focus on creativity, collaboration, and confidence-building, these ensembles give young musicians the opportunity to experience the thrill of performing together, laying strong foundations for their musical journeys while discovering the joy and energy of jazz.
