Perry Louis is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the UK Jazz Dance movement, often described as the funkiest and jazziest man in the room. Whether dancing on stage, DJing behind the decks, or instantly recognisable in one of his signature hats, Perry is a true original.
Unlike most DJs, Perry came up as a dancer first. Emerging from the UK club scene of the 1970s and 80s, he lit up legendary dancefloors long before stepping behind the turntables. That foundation still defines his DJing today. Every record is selected with movement in mind, every set driven by feel, authenticity and deep musical knowledge.
A committed vinyl-only selector, Perry delivers powerful, dance-led journeys through Jazz Funk, Rare Groove, Boogie, Brit Funk, Soul, Latin, Brazilian, Afro and Fusion. His record collection, built over five decades, is one of the most respected and dancefloor-focused in the scene.
He became an iconic presence at the Jazz Cafe, both as a dancer and later as a DJ, logging more dates than any other artist in the venue’s history. He has also held residencies and guest appearances at Ronnie Scott’s and major sessions across the UK and internationally.
