Musical chemistry is rare, but from their first studio session together Andy Platts and Shawn Lee knew they had it. As Young Gun Silver Fox, the duo have spent over a decade crafting their signature blend of smooth ’70s pop-soul, earning a devoted global following and admirers including Hans Zimmer, Jeff Lynne and The Black Pumas. Beyond the band, Lee is a prolific producer and multi-instrumentalist, while Platts leads Mamas Gun and co-wrote the title track of Take That’s chart-topping album This Life.
After first connecting in the late 2000s, the pair bonded over a shared love of artists like Steely Dan and classic West Coast soul. Their 2015 debut West End Coast arrived just as ‘Yacht Rock’ was enjoying a revival, quickly finding an international audience. Follow-ups including AM Waves, Canyons and Ticket To Shangri-La built on that momentum, pairing sophisticated musicianship with radio-ready hooks and establishing the band as a formidable live act worldwide.
Now preparing to release their fifth album, Pleasure, the duo have evolved again — writing much of the record together in person for the first time. With most instrumentation handled solely by Platts and Lee, it marks a new chapter for a partnership that continues to refine and redefine its sound, driven simply by what they create best together.
